HOW WE MADE ONE POWERCHIPS SWISS MADE

Car drivers call the onboard computer the ‘Electronic Control Unit’ (ECU), more commonly known as the ‘Electronic box’. This manages and controls lighting adjustments and fuel supply (and in some cases the supercharging pressure) in numerous and varying driving conditions. The is programmed to adjust the cartography and fuel supply with the aim of optimising the performances of all motor types.

The electronic box uses a microprocessor linked to a memory device (EPROM or CHIP) in which the numerical values of the lighting points and injection times are recorded. Receptors permanently indicate the performance rate of the motor as well as all of its characteristics. Electronic signals transmit the information collected by the electronic box where a mirco-calculator determines the exact quantity of fuel necessary for the motor to function efficiently, and furthermore precisely determines the exact moment and the length of the gap between each electronic injector (one per cylinder or one per a combination of cylinders).

The advanced point of the ignition is the second basic, fundamental function of the control system, insofar that at the optimum moment and with the utmost precision, the total combustion of the fuel occurs within a homogenous mixture of air and fuel. This modification is practiced in 90% of situations. It consists of replacing the original chip with a chip containing the modified programme. In the majority of cases, the original chip is welded and therefore needs the installation of an insertion base (to weld) upon which the EPROM fixates itself.

The modification can be effected directly by an accredited assistant in cases where the number of a box/chip is already known and where a box/chip number is non-referenced. It is therefore necessary to transfer the original file to ourselves.

A product generally consists of an EPROM (chip), which serves to store the modified programme, and an integrated DECODER which will be inserted into the EPROM (supports protection against copying.) Without this decoder, information cannot be treated by the box: this will therefore not function, and is thus your guarantee of reliability. .
